#10 Resident Evil (2002)

Posted on 26th July 2011 in b

If you thought zombie movies couldn’t get any better than Zombieland, think again: Resident Evil is one of the best zombie movies of all time, and it’s one of my personal favorites. I’ve been playing the games for years, so when the movie came out, I rushed out to see it, and I’m glad I did. This movie definitely deserves my number ten position in my list of good zombie movies, and I’m going to tell you why:

The plot is simple: Giant mega corporation accidently releases a deadly virus that infectiously spreads over the quarantined population of Raccoon City; as a result, people in the city must fight for their survival, but it proves difficult.

The characters are vivid: In this movie you’ll find a unique cast of characters: no more Mr. Narcissist; the guy who doesn’t tell anyone he’s infect; the clueless person; the person who’s weak or afraid; or the strong militant personality. This movie features original personality types that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

There isn’t a dull moment in this movie. If you’ve never seen it before, then I would suggest you rush out to Blockbuster and get it.

#9 28 Days Later (2002)

Posted on 26th July 2011 in b

Released in 2002, 28 Days Later has become one of the crowing achievements of Alex Garland, the film’s director, who spins a fanciful tale of another human tragedy, where mankind is subject to the depravation of yet another zombie apocalypse.

The story takes place in Britain, where animal liberation activists are caught breaking into a laboratory, attempting to free chimpanzees being subjected to scientific experimentations.

Despite being warned of the chimpanzees contagion, they free them anyways, which proves to be a fatal mistake. They are infected shortly thereafter, and the disease spreads from there.

Four weeks later, Jim, a bicycle courier, awakens from a coma in London, finding it to be a desolate place with little signs of life. He is then attacked, but shortly rescued thereafter, learning of the societal collapse that resulted from the deadly virus.

From that point, he finds himself on a rode winding downhill, for he is surrounded by militant extremists and deadly zombies, which is why he’s going to require him scrounging up every bit of courage for the sake of his own survival.

For the most part, the film is highly creative, and it gives audience members a new perspective on a zombie virus. The movie also does have a sequel which made out list. You can find that here: #4 28 Weeks Later We definitely recommend watching both.

#8 Planet Terror (2007)

Posted on 26th July 2011 in b

From what I’ve heard, Planet Terror is an amazingly action-packed horror film overflowing with zombies and everything that is awesomeness. The film was directed by Robert Rodriguez, and it is one of the most critically appraised zombie films of all time, redefining the entire genre of zombie films. So if you haven’t seen it, you should.

The plot is simple: a military transaction goes incredibly awry, resulting in an onslaught of ferocious brain eating zombies. With very few survivors left, mankind’s last hope is left in the hands of scrubs, who have absolutely no chance at survival.

This film will literally keep you on the edge of your seat for 106 minutes straight. Your eyes will be super glued to the television, and you’ll be stuck in a euphoria of awesome zombie madness. It’s that good, and we want you to see for yourself. You won’t actually know what a zombie film is until you’ve seen this movie.

#7 Land of the Dead (2005)

Posted on 25th July 2011 in b

Here’s a little secret: George Romero films are the best. He’s what we’re calling the king of the undead, and we’re going to tell you why: Land of the Dead. This film simply is one of the greatest zombie films of all time, and it is has everything you want in a zombie film: social collapse, zombies, and tons of action.

The story is simple: Mankind has been laid to waste, and for some reason, the once departed are coming back to life. This, of course, presents a problem for the very few survivors left, who reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where a feudal government has gained its grounds.

The people are divided, and tensions are high. Rich people inhabit the lush Fiddler’s green, a sanctuary, and poor people subside in the gutters. This leads to much implosive action within society, creating high tensions.

Not only must mankind endure the dangers of zombies, but they must also prevent a social uprising that just might lead to social collapse. That’s if they want to survive.

Overall, the film gets an “A” in our book. If you want a great zombie film guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat, Land of the Dead is the way to go.

How would you like to see one of the greatest zombie comedies of all time? Sounds interesting enough, right? Allow us to introduce you to Shaun of the Dead, the funniest zombie we’ve ever seen, which has earned it our sixth position.

The film revolves around the life of Shaun, a salesman whose life has very little meaning: he works a dead-end job, struggles with relationship issues, and is hardly respected by his co-workers. It wasn’t until being dumped that he finds himself hitting rock bottom.

After a night in the bar, however, he finds his life is about to change. People around him are acting suspiciously like zombies: biting each other, demanding for brains.

This, then, triggers a chain of events that turn his life around for good. Him and his roommate, Ed, are pit against hordes of brain mongering zombies. With all odds against them, they must delve deep beneath their surfaces to find if they have what it takes.

Can they survive? Find out in Shaun of the Dead.

#5 Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)

Posted on 24th July 2011 in b

Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead is one of the greatest zombie movies of all time. This movie is so great watching it will make your head explode in a euphoria of awesomeness. Don’t believe us? See for yourself.

The movie revolves around two sweet hearts, Arbie and Wendy, who are departing for college. But before they go, they decide to consummate their relationship at an ancient burial ground, promising to always remain faithful to each other.

One semester later, however, Arbie finds an unsettling reality: his girlfriend has broken those vows, and a American Chicken Bunker has been erected where the Indian burial ground once stood. He is angered, at both his girlfriend and the franchise, but he ends up taking a job there to exact his revenge.

Once employed, he stumbles upon something sinister, dark and sinister. Employees and customers are both disappearing in a violent fashion. At this point, he finds himself fighting for his life in one of the most gruesome, bloody battles of his entire life.

If you’re a zombie film fan, then I would definitely put this film on your watch list. It’s probably one of the best low-budget films out there.

#4 28 Weeks Later (2007)

Posted on 23rd July 2011 in b

28 Weeks Later is what I would call a mediocre zombie film. The film doesn’t actually impress me as much as some of the other films I’ve seen. Nonetheless, however, it’s still an interesting film that I would recommend checking out!

The storyline takes place after the tragedy that befell on mankind in 28 Days Later. When the story opens, you’re greeted by a cast of characters in a dark farmhouse. In a matter of moments, the house is under siege. Zombies rush into the house, slaughtering the survivors, giving birth to one of the greatest chase scenes in a zombie film. Luckily, of the people in the house, one manages to survive.

As the audience soon learns, many of the zombies are dying of starvation. As a result, strict quarantines are put into effect, allowing mankind to rebuild society.

Now at this point, prepare to be frustrated. You know that one person that does something moronic and gets other people killed? Well, that person emerges as a father and a little girl. This one little girl manages to re-infect all of society, costing countless people their lives.

In summary, the film is somewhat frustrating, as I’ve mentioned above. It’s definitely a watch, however.

#3 Diary of the Dead (2007)

Posted on 23rd July 2011 in b

Diary of the Dead is another great zombie film packed with non-stop zombie massacring violence. This movie is so great that watching it will make your head in explode in a fantasy of awesomeness.

As for the storyline, the film follows group of students that are filming a horror film of their own. While filming their movie, they overhear news on the radio that there are mass-riots and reports of the deceased walking among the living. At that point, the group splits up into two groups, one of which wants to film the happenings documentary style.

In an attempt to film the massacre, the group takes to the road in an RV. Along the way, however, they find that filming the zombie apocalypse is hinging on their survival, as each of them dies one-by-one.

Overall, Diary of the Dead is one of the better zombie films. After all, it’s filmed by George Romero, a legendary film maker, which has perfected the recipe for zombie films.

#2 Dead Snow (2009)

Posted on 23rd July 2011 in b

Dead Snow is a 2009 comedy horror film packed full of zombie-massacring violence. This movie is so great that watching it will make your head burst with awesomeness.

The storyline revolves around seven delicious appetizers (humans) that are vacationing in rural Norway for Easter. Shortly after their arrival, they are greeted by a crazed local who indulges their fears with a story of Nazis that slaughtered locals during World War II. Dismissing the story as a joke, the teens continue their partying.

The next day, Vergard, one of the teens, takes the snow mobile out to look for one of his friends that went missing. After concluding his search, he stumbles upon a disemboweled body of a local hitchhiker that went missing. Frightened, he backs up, falling into a cave.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group discovers a treasure trove of valuables. In excitement, the group celebrates their discovery.

Unbeknownst to them, however, good things, as they soon find out, can have horrible consequences.

#1 Zombieland (2009)

Posted on 23rd July 2011 in b

If my opinion matters, and it does, Zombieland would win every single film award imaginable. This movie has everything you could want in zombie film: interactive typography, clowns, World of Warcraft, and a drunken redneck who’s obsessed with Twinkies and Bill Murray. The only thing this film doesn’t have is a sequel, but I hear it’s coming soon.

As for the storyline, the world is in shambles, and much of population has turned into carnivorous zombies. And as unlikely as it may sound, one of the very few survivors left, Columbus, is a nerdy college shut-in who is on a quest to find his parents.

After recruiting the help of “Talahasee,” a redneck who is infatuated with killing zombies, the two journey across the country in an attempt to survive. Along the way, however, they stumble upon a group of con girls that ultimately join them in their quest. Together, the four survivors make their way to “Pacific Playland,” an amusement park rumored to be zombie free. But as they soon find out, in Zombieland it’s eat or be eaten.
